October 29, 2025
The newly elected Board of Trustees held their Public Organizational Meeting on October 29, 2025. Following the swearing of Oaths of Office, Trustees elected the Board Chair and Vice-Chair for the 2025-2026 school year. Sandra Palazzo, Trustee for Ward 72, was re-elected as Board Chair, and Lisa Turchansky, Trustee for Ward 76, was re-elected as Vice-Chair.
Sandra Palazzo has served as Board Chair for the past five years. Palazzo has over 30 years of experience as an educator and administrator with Edmonton Catholic Schools and worked as a Senior Manager for Alberta Education for three years before being elected in October 2017.
“I am humbled and honoured to continue serving the Division as Board Chair," said Board Chair Sandra Palazzo. "I am proud of the great work that happens daily as we live out our mission to provide a Catholic education that inspires students to learn and prepares them to live fully and serve God in one another. Student and staff well-being and success remain at the forefront of all we do, guided by our commitment to transparency, accountability and integrity, always ensuring that, together, we put students first.”
Lisa Turchansky was first elected as Trustee in 2017 and has served as Vice-Chair for the past five years. Lisa is a parent of two children in the Division, including one who has graduated. She is a graduate of Edmonton Catholic Schools.
“I am honoured to continue to serve in the role of Vice-Chair. Publicly-funded Catholic education is a gift for which I committed to tirelessly advocating alongside my colleagues,” said Lisa Turchansky. “We will continue to build on our legacy of providing governance that is centred on empowering our students through faith-filled learning experiences.”
Palazzo and Turchansky have assumed their roles effective immediately. The next Public Meeting of the Board is scheduled for November 26, 2025, at 3 PM in the Public Boardroom at Lumen Christi Catholic Education Centre.
