French Immersion Programming (K-12)
Whether you're starting French Immersion in Kindergarten or Grade 1, continuing from a feeder school, or joining us as a new student, J.H. Picard offers an experience like no other.
From elementary to high school, Picard is where you’ll grow academically, deepen your faith, and build lifelong friendships—all while thriving in French Immersion.

At École J.H. Picard, we offer great Catholic education in French. Guess what? You can start French Immersion in either Kindergarten or Grade One, and the best part is, you don't need to know French to register.
French immersion is a cool way to learn two languages! At École J.H. Picard, you get to study in French while following the same Alberta Education curriculum as those studying in English. By the time you finish Grade 12, you'll become functionally binlingual, meaning you'll be able to speak French really well! It's an awesome chance to become bilingual. Also, you don't have to be Catholic to join us…As long as we have enough space and the right program, non-Catholic and non-resident students are welcome too.

Yellow bussing is available for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 who live within the J.H. Picard boundary area and outside of the 2 km walking zone. To determine if your child qualifies for bussing contact our office at 780.433.4251 or visit the ECSD Bus Planner Portal.
Open Houses are your opportunity to visit schools, meet the staff, and explore the spaces where learning and community thrive. Tour classrooms, ask questions, and learn about the programs and opportunities available for your child.
If you can't attend an Open House, contact the school directly to see if you can arrange another time to visit.
